Was it made in the 1900's or something?

I have to record this moment before it is forgotten. A few nights ago I was sitting at the table with Michael and Gunnar. I am the cub scout leader so scouts is always a topic at our table in some form or another. The boys started telling me about this other young boy that they met who is working on getting his Eagle and wanted to know if you needed to be able to survive like Bear Grylls on Man VS Wild to get your Eagle. I explained what it meant to get your Eagle and what you had to do. Then I told them what their Uncle and Papa did to get theirs. Well my dad (Papa) made the flag pole that stands in front of one of our church buildings here. Michael proceeded to say this.. "Wow that flag pole is really old then. Was it made in the 1900's or something?" I couldn't help but laugh and told him that yes it was. So dad you are apparently old. However so am I as most of my life was and has been spent now in the 1900's. Kids are great!!!!

He did it!!

Lots of boys, lots of noise, then quiet. Why do I not go check out the situation? I am enjoying the piece and quiet of course!! Well I shouldn't have been. I walked into the kitchen to find a chair up against the fridge with a sit-n-spin on top of that. Someone really wanted something from on top of the fridge. On the ground was the egg carton which held the last six eggs we had, (which while at Costco today I didn't buy more because I didn't really need them, I had six after all) laying upside down on the floor with no more eggs in it. Where were they you asked? Well at this point I can only account for 3. Two on the floor and one in the fridge. Did I mention they were just egg shells, just the empty egg shells? Yep, however, who ever the culprit was he attempted to clean up. I also found amongst the egg shells two egg filled kitchen towels. What a good child I have! Now I asked one of my children who will remain nameless who might has done this. He told me it was Axel. So my 2 year old constructed a tower of doom, then proceeded to get out the eggs and even clean them up. YEAH RIGHT!!!!! So I ask the 2 year old, who got into the eggs? He proceeds to tell me it is Michael. I am afraid to ask Michael as he will probably tell me it was someone else, who will blame it on someone else and then we will be back to the 2 year old. I have decided that I really don't care, I am grateful they attempted to clean it up. And will now hopefully have learned my lesson once again that when it is quiet go check it out. Because unless they are all asleep, quiet is never a good thing.

Easter

We spent Easter morning with my family. Here are the youngest ones heading out for the egg hunt. It is so fun when they get to this age and are really excited about the holidays.

Grandma put 2 dollar bills in eggs for all the older kids and 1 dollar bills for the younger ones. She even put a golf day for the dads and a pedicure/lunch day for the moms. Yeah for Grandma.
Checking out the loot.
The best picture taken of the cousins. From left to right, AJ, Jorden, Aiden, Elliot, Riley, Gunnar, Michael, and Axel. Aren't they all so cute?

We had a great morning at Grandma and Papa's house. The food was excellent and the company even better. We finished off the morning watching General Conference and then headed up to JJ's family for yet another yummy meal and egg hunt. We are truly blessed to live by our families. And are even more blessed that we all get along so well and love to be together. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Goofing off

Axel and JJ showing their true colors. Just had to add this picture in.

Kalke's came to visit

For our first week of Spring Break the Kalke's, our good friends from Ohio, came to visit. Here are all our kids. I can't believe how much everyone has grown since we saw them last July. Unfortunately I only have this one picture of the bunch. (This happened last time they were here too.) We had lots of fun though. We went to the beach one day, the Mormon Battalion visitors center and toured Old Town San Diego, Wild Animal Park, swam at my parents house, and just hung out and watched the kids get filthy. It was a great week. We were sad to have them go. We keep hoping that they will choose to move out this way. But only time will tell.

Remembering a past post

So if you keep up with my blog you will remember my post about my boys jumping the skateboard ramps. Well my son here decided that jumping it on his scooter would be even cooler. Well after many successful jumps he made a calculation error and well it ended in a broken arm. Do I think this will stop the jumping? Heavens no but it will definitely postpone it for a bit. He wasn't very happy to get this picture taken but we needed it for posterity's sake.

This year in Sports

Michael again chose soccer. He loves it and has gotten really good this year. His team has gone undefeated with one tie. Hopefully we will play them again and settle that crazy game. They are the Jaguars and had Dad for the coach. It has been fun though watching my son take a liking to something and excelling at it. I love watching him play.

Gunnar broke the mold this year and branched out to a new sport for our family. He chose basketball. His team was the Sharks. He was the smallest player on the team but the fastest. He played hard, made a few shots, but overall had a really fun time.

Jorden was our only baseball player this season, which honestly I am grateful for. We didn't have to spend every day of the week at the baseball fields. He loves it and loves it the best when he gets to field all the balls. He loves playing catcher, pitcher, and first base because they get the ball the most. He playes on the Mariners this year and it was sponsored by yours truly, Marler Campbell Dental.

Pinewood Derby

Michael placed third this year at the Pinewood Derby. He decided that his car this year should be a 1965 Cobra. So dad and him were very busy sawing, sanding, and painting this fabulous car.
Gunnar brought Michael's car from last year, the yellow and black one aka bumblebee, and raced with the scouts. Pretty cool picture huh?
Here it is in all its glory. The 1965 cobra. Dad and Michael did a great job.

I think we have a Job change in our future

For JJ's birthday this year I got him trapeze lessons. Yep you read right, trapeze lessons. He absolutely loved it. He was so good that the instructors thought for sure he had been doing this for a while. Of course I knew he would be good at it. He was totally surprised and now wants to do it with our boys. So we will see which boy decides he can hack it like dad.

On being mom of 4 Boys!!!

Yesterday my boys came in to the house asking for a tape measure. I politely asked what it was they needed it for and they explained that they were seeing how far they could jump. Seeming as though that was harmless, I directed them to the cabinet that housed the tape measurer. Upon further thought however, I decided that checking on them to see exactly what they were doing would be a great idea. I went outside only to see one of my boys at one end of the driveway yelling to the others if they were ready. I looked down to the other end to see that they had taken their skateboard ramp apart, put the two ramp parts together and were running up one side and jumping to the other. Each time they were successful they would move the ramps farther apart. Now my boys have done some crazy things in their lives but this took the cake for the “moment”. You see my driveway is not the smooth concrete, it is the pebbly black top. You know the kind that when you fall you pretty much scrape the soup out of yourself. Not to mention every time they landed on the opposite ramp it would slide too. Well of course being the great mom I am, I got out the video camera and recorded this momentous feet. Well actually I wanted to record the last moments of their lives that I would be sharing with them. I will say though they all did a great job and they all lived to tell the tale and then watch the amazing video over, and over again. Oh yeah and I failed to mention that the boys while awaiting their turns would lay in between the ramps to be jumped over. I love having boys!!!!

Well it has been awhile since my last update and I don't know when I will get the next one in. But I had to drop a little line to let any one who reads this blog know that we are having...........

A Girl!!!

Yep it is true. My boys are warming up to the idea, and I am loving it.

Medieval Times

For Christmas this year, JJ and I decided that we didn't want to give toys. So we bought tickets to the Medieval Times dinner and show. It was fabulous. Here I am after catching a flower from our winning Knight. We cheered for the yellow and red Knight, hence the crown.

Here are the boys anxiously awaiting our dinner. It was delicious and we got to eat everything with our hands which made it even more fun.

The Royal Family, minus the picture taker King.

Christmas

The boys made out well this year for Christmas. Michael asked for a Lego Agents Helicopter, Gunnar wanted the Lego Agents RoboAttack, and Jorden wanted a glowing light saber. Santa was able to deliver them all.

Axel couldn't decide what he wanted to Santa gave him an Elmo. He hasn't put it down.

Here they all are in their Christmas PJ's and glowing lightsabers. Santa was smart on this one, he knew having just one lightsaber would be a problem in this house so 4 were delivered.

Santa

And of course the token Santa picture. Why we torture our children I will never know.

Christmas

Here is Michael making his Gingerbread house. Look how intensly he is focused on the task at hand. He did a great job.
Gunnar looking as cute as ever.
Here is Papa and Jorden. Not sure why the silly face on Papa, but we definitely needed to post this one.
Does Axel look happy or what. He was in heaven with all that candy. Grandma and Cousin Kristen are there helping him.
And of course the token nativity scene is always done and the boys love it. I love how this picture caught the little guy in back peeking at baby Jesus. How sweet is that!

Disneyland

Our family cleans JJ's office each week and instead of paying a cleaning service our family gets paid to do it. We put the money in a special savings account and then use it for a family vacation. This is something my parents did while I was growing up and I love doing it with my kids now. Well we set a goal to earn enough money to go to Disneyland, and after a few months they did it. We took the 3 older boys and they had a great time. They all went on every ride, even the fast ones and for the most part they all loved it. In fact they can't wait to go again.

Jedi Training

The boys couldn't wait to go to the Jedi Academy and train to be Jedi's. It was really fun. Here are Michael and Gunnar fighting Darth Maul. They did a fabulous job and one again Darth Vader walked away without bringing over any young Jedi's to the dark side.

Happy Birthday Jorden

9 months old and loving the beach.
Yes he still has the dog.

No matter how many times you are told or how many children you have, they grow up so fast and I still can't believe how time flies. As I looked back through his pictures I just couldn't help but wonderer where all this time has gone. Jorden is now 5 and I must say, for the most part, completely wonderful. He is full of personality and completely stubborn, but we sure do love him.
